SanskritTypist is made by one person. Email support@sanskrittypist.com and you will get a reply from the developer, not a ticket queue. Most questions are answered below first.

SanskritTypist doesn't appear in my keyboard list

Open the SanskritTypist app at least once after installing. iOS only registers a keyboard extension after its host app has been launched, which is the single most common cause.

Then: Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard, and look under Third-Party Keyboards. Still missing? Restart the iPhone and check again.

There is no globe key on my keyboard

The globe key only appears once more than one keyboard is enabled. Add the Devanagari or IAST keyboard in Settings and it will show up in the bottom-left corner. Long-press it to pick a keyboard directly instead of cycling.

My Devanagari shows as boxes or question marks

The characters are correct — SanskritTypist emits standard Unicode Devanagari. The app or document you pasted into is using a font with no Indic coverage. Switch to a font like Noto Serif Devanagari, Kohinoor Devanagari or Nirmala UI and the text will render properly.

How do I type a halant, a conjunct, or ॐ?

Long-press the key. A few of the callouts:

  • Long-press kक् · ख् · क्ष्
  • Long-press mम् · ं · ॐ · ँ
  • Long-press aअ · आ · ऐ · औ
  • On the IAST keyboard, long-press sś · ṣ, nṅ · ñ · ṇ

How do I restore my purchase on a new iPhone?

Sign in with the same Apple ID that bought the app, open the App Store, and download SanskritTypist again — paid apps re-download at no charge on any device using the purchasing Apple ID. Family Sharing covers up to six family members.

Can I request a character or a feature?

Please do. Version 2.1 added the symbol to the IAST keyboard's m callout because someone asked. Email support@sanskrittypist.com with the character or behaviour you need and what you are using it for.

Still stuck?

Enjoying the app? An App Store review genuinely helps a small independent app find the people looking for it.
